During the time Nixon was brought into presidency, and competiton was taking place in America. A race against the Soviet Union began over space travel. America striving to become a superior country began to create the spaceships Apollos to begin their mission out in space. Nixon was capable of supporting this expedition along with various others for the NASA to be successful. This brought a whole new level to the American Identity that developed to being more prideful of their own country and to strive towards a successful future to improve America.
Nixon had his positive and not too positive impacts on America. The Civil Rights Act and his whole peace to all the country goals gave him a stable start to end discrimination and to lessen any tensions between a variety of countries. He was capable of supporting towards a better future for America for his support on the space-expedition against the Soviet Union. His specialty deal with domestic affairs but his lack of dealing with issues in America itself brought him down as well as the Watergate Scandal that brought a unfortunate impeachment to Nixon. With that said, his overall grade could be given at most a C for his terms in office.
His innaugural address, Nixon stated for his goals of world peace between countries, less discrimations, more jobs, education, and more. His main focus was on world peace between all countries to create stability. He did not want America to return to its isolationism once more as it did during the war. Nixon and his administration searched for a solution towards the soldiers dieying constantly in the Vietnam War. Although Nixon agreed to halt bombings for a negotiation to peace between the two nations. But this deal never took effect and the president sought for arrangements to bring back soldiers home while leaving South Korea safe from any enemy attacks.
Congress and Nixon could not and would not ever mix during 1969 through 1974. His relationship with congress was poor. Most of the Senate was democratic and both could not come to an agreement. The only thing they were capable of getting done and passed was the Equal Rights Act. His personality also contradicted his ideals of peace, seeing that he had more of a tougher outlook.
One of Nixon's greatest aspects was his world stability. He was capable of reducing difficulties with China and the U.S.S.R. Meetings with the Russian leader known as Leonid Brezhnev to limit nuclear weapons. Since china was becoming a country of trade, Nixon sent word that he wished for a closer relationship between the U.S. and their nation. His expertise to resolve conflicts as well in the middle eastern and latin america resulting in policies in order to create some order.
The biggest negative outcome through his presidency could be the Watergate scandal. It ended up with Nixon resigning his second term during the first year of it. He testified that an investigator had inspected the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington D.C. The scandal was brought to light to thte public and 5 suspects were caught breaking in. In the end, this scandal brought impeachment hearings towards Nixon that caused him as mentioned earlier to resign and leave office a year into his second term.
Richard left an example for the future America on their advances towards technolgy and space travel. His dealings with foreign affairs was a great example to follow in his footsteps that created peace for a time period with todays one of the biggest trading country in the world also known as China. He earned himself a B for foreign dealings and world peace and valid efforts but the scandal that was made known to the country which caused him to leave office early in his second term brought him to an average C.
